LuLu's Desperate House Dogs (formerly the Bow Wow Blog)

LuLu's Desperate House Dogs is a blog about an eccentric little Beagle named LuLu, who, along with her sister Sadie (a Whippet/Terrier/Beagle blend), writes the lurid Puppies in Lust series, and absorbs local color in an idyllic, off-the-leash, canine-centered village known as Lincoln Park~

Morey is a lot more than resilient. The put-upon mutt has more adaptability than Indiarubber!

SEEN IN THE PARK:

The day may have been overcast, but
the dogs of Lincoln Park were out in droves. Members of the well-known Waggin' Train hit the streets as early as noon, when Paco, Bobby, and Bentley all made nose contact with LuLu, the lone female in the group -- much to her delight, no doubt.

Later on, as the afternoon skies darkened towards evening, the park was full up with WT members: Benji, Maggie, Miss Gracie, LuLu,
Ash the Peke, Hannah, Tanner, Clancey, and Buck, to name a few.

Noticeably absent: King Rockie, who usually holds court on weekends. Perhaps the king was off with his Duchess?

Careful, Rock, a few of those boys mentioned above are just itching
to use your crown as a chew toy.

Maybe Rockie had something better to do?

Yes, actually King Rockie and his guardian were providing a humanitarian service for one of his loyal subjects. Me.
He and his guardian kindly helped my 'guardian' move. Not to worry though ladies, there were no romantic developments while the King was away, though Sony and he did chase a squirrel or two.

Thanks for being my cover, Nestle, but it's really not necessary. I think the bitches in the park finally get the picture. The Asp is not a helpless puppy anymore!

Asp,

Could I have your email address?

11:03 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

hi, asp, glad to help out. Anytime. But the truth is King Rockie, being the humanitarian King that he is, and willing to service all his loyal subjects, really did help. But not to worry, there was a large royal cushion available upon which His Majesty could lie when he needed too.

Are you suggesting that his majesty is lying down on the job?

Don't most majesties lie down on the job? Top dogs, magesties, presidents.

He was overseeing things. But actually, he did fall asleep on the job a few times.

I'm getting ready to import a new dog! Cody is kept on a pretty short leash....and Tanner seems reluctant to seize the scepter.

Come to think of it, I very much enjoyed being a queen in my past life~

One will still be able to choose from such charming males as Tanner, Nestle, Cody, Morey, Trapper (a newbie), Wilbur, Ace, Willie -- and dear, dear Spencer, to mention only a few.

And you will not be queen of the park, LuLu. I, the empress, shan't allow it!!!!

I'd like to hear a little more about those court interns. Any of them wearing thong harnesses?

Oh, I love these posts! Spencer gets to be king? Well, back centuries ago, when I was Queen Elizabeth I of England and he was Robert Dudley, he tried to get me to marry him so he could take over my throne -- that bad boy. Meanwhile, back in the 21st century, King Rockie is still in charge, and he was reigning in splendid form in the park this afternoon -- meaning you may have to wait a while, Spence....again.

As for certain comments by the Asp -- You have no power, pup; it's all in your head...but you might want to try hooking up with Fiver. Send him a picture of you in a thong harness and I guarantee he'll Corgi trot down here all the way from Michigan~

Did any one see that sad story about the coyote that died. I don't understand how it could happen. Why didn't they leave him alone? He wasn't hurting any one.

Maybe Wily got lost while trying to find Lincoln Park, Lulu?

jean,
I and my she guardian share your concern. Apparently a necropsy (sp) is going to be performed to determine the exact cause of death, that is, why a young healthy animal suddenly stopped breathing while merely being ear tagged. My guardian emailed HSUS in their "contact us with questions" form and should be hearing back.

11:56 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Spencer, the new king? Sounds great. But will he be able to keep all the park canine "ladies" busy and engaged in stick-playing like Rockie? What is his royal MO?

12:03 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree with Jean and Nestle -- that story about the coyote doesn't make a lot of sense. Nestle, please let us know what you hear.

Fiver, you REALLY need to find a girlfriend~

2:43 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Spencer....do you want to answer the question: What is your MO?
We all know you wear a pacifier around your neck, that you take fits, and spend much of your time humping your crate mate.

Hmmm. Sounds like a typical king (or politician) to me~

Hey Rock. While you are vacationing, eat some M&M's for me,will ya ?
Personally, I think a Queen or Duchess, or Princess should sub for you this summer. You can never be replaced, Rockie, not with all the gals you enticed.
Man, this time change has messed my beauty sleep up.

I smell a coup coming on. Hell, maybe it's a coupe? Or perhaps a sedan? Well, Madame Spirea will have her little joke.

In the "good old days" -- before flea prevention and chew toys, kings riding off in all directions sometimes allowed their wives to take over as temporary regents.

Of course, when the kings came riding home again, the girls had to go back to their sewing and chastity belts.

But who knows what will happen this summer in Lincoln Park?

Well, Madame Spirea knows, but she's going back to her Jack Daniel's...

Jean -- my guaradian wanted to let you know she heard back from HSUS about the coyote. If you want the info. they sent let me know and she will be glad to send it to you. Or if its' Ok, she can put the imp. info. on this blog.
Apparently, LOTS of people voiced their concern and the local newspapers are researching it also.

I am casting my vote for lulu to be Rockie's summer replacement. She can choose whatever title she wants, but she loves Rockie, is very friendly to all humans and canines and is very playful. Yes, I vote for lulu.

8:15 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Thank you for your vote and your support, Nestle. You are a true gentleman! The problem is, the tribe may not have spoken, but Rockie and Paco have -- and they've decided upon Spencer, who used to be the Earl of Leicester when I was Queen Elizabeth I of England.

Here's the problem: Leicester always wanted to marry me and become king, but I chose to be the (questionable virgin) Virgin Queen and rule on my own.

Spencer/Leicester has never forgiven me, and it's been more than 400 years, which means that spaniel can really carry a grudge.

Soooo....I'm inclined to let him rule Lincoln Park for a couple of months -- just until Rockie gets back.

Being king can be a heady experience, of course, and almost anything can happen. In fact, there's every indication that it will.

Thanks again for your support, Nestle.

Love, LuLu~

lulu, with all due respect, though Spencer displays a regal pose in his photo and is a friendly guy, his "past and future majesty" shows only an 'X' rated interest in Miss Lily's backside and seems orally fixated to that purple pacifier. Thus,I question the suitability of his reigning as King. There are now many vulnerable young pups romping in the park.

Besides, since when does Paco have the power to decide alone who shall reign? And Rockie has not abdicated his throne, merely going on vacation like all kings.
So,
while I realize others are perhaps more powerful than I, I've been roaming the Lincoln Park countryside for the past 12 years, longer, than any other, so by longevity and tenure, I am drafting lulu for the summer's regal royalty. She's worthy and earned it.

C'mon lulu stand up for yourself and vote yourself in. Or, take it to the Canine Supreme Court and let them elect you.

"Please know that we are pushing for a full and open disclosure about all handling protocols used in this case and are working closely with a major newspaper which is researching the same issues. Luckily, there's been so much human interest in this case that that public scrutiny and demand for answers is being felt strongly by state and city officials. Watch for articles in the NY Daily News! Thank you too for contacting us about this tragic case.

From 2nd HSUS rep.:

I agree with you, it would have been far better for this coyote to have been released sooner rather than later. Just know there's been a lot of public outrage, and many people are calling upon city officials and the DEC for answers. The Daily News and other papers are researching what may have happened to this coyote, and I do believe some answers will be forthcoming.

Yet we may never know whether it was the stress, heartworm load, potential over-handling, pesticide residue in the food items he ate, or other factors that singly or together played a role in his death.

You're right, Nes. Lulu's a babe.
So maybe Paco's got the army behind him, or could the said Lulu be both a beagle and a mole? So Spencer is oversexed and orally fixated. He shouldn't be king maybe, but president? Would you buy PM?

1:01 PM

I'm grateful for the information. The poor coyote suffered needlessly and let us hope this will not happen again. Please be kind to animals and don't try to capture non-domesticated ones.

"Machination is worth more than force," so said Francois Rabelais back in the 15th century.

LuLu is clever, the Asp is cunning, Spencer is oversexed, and both King Rockie and Prince Paco will be gone for the summer.

Madame Spirea foresees much machination in the near future....

10:26 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Madame S., what's a machination? A nation of machines? I don't have a doggy dictionary. And Paco, I didnt know he was leaving for the summer too. This ain't good, but then with summer, I go to other parks too. I looove Mt. Kettering!

11:56 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nestle, to machinate means to plot artfully, often with evil intent. The noun MACHINATION usually means a plot of scheme. Of course the word is frequently used in current slang as well. For example: "Man, try usin' your machination once in a while." In current slang, this is also known as "doing a Walt Disney."

1:34 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nestle, please make that "a plot OR scheme." It is late and Madame Sprirea has been working over a hot crystal ball all night.

jean--if you see this, here is the outcome of the necropsy on the coyote pup you asked about:

" The necropsy of the animal shows that it had a heavy infection of heartworm, and it also appears to have ingested a chemical that causes internal bleeding. We are reviewing all aspects of this case so that we can avoid a similar outcome. Thanks for contacting us, and if you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.

Oh those puppy pictures are sooo cute! Lulu, the royal majesty that she is, was adorable (and still is, I think) and Yo Yo, is he a he or she a she? If she's a she, hmm, I'd loove to meet her. She's kind a cute :)

10:19 AM

The spirits have whispered to Madame Spirea and informed her that YoYo, like most of the dogs in Lincoln Park, is a neuter. As you may have noticed, Nestle, revving in neutral does not seem to slow anybody down over there -- so go for it.

Please lulu, lily, spencer, someone, help me. I've been put in grave danger.

Can you call a doggie 911 or ASPCA? I stayed with my she guardian at her new place for the first time last night. It was fun! I got to eat the cat's food, get their treats, and steal 'her' snacks.
Then, then, today, she said I stunk and for the first time-- 'SHE' gave me a bath! With girlie smelling shampoo! Then she moussed me. Moussed me! I'm a guy!
What should I do?
She's going to walk me at the park later tonight-- smelling like this. What if she gets scissors and trims me,too? What an awful day :(
BTW. . .
ANONYMOUS-- How can any dog in his right mind be asexual? Without sex!? jiminy, I may not have the tools, but I still enjoy the ladies :)

I may be asexual but I don't smell like a girlie boy.

anonymous, now don't get the wrong idea, I'm not interested in asexual anything. I try to be 'cool' at the park, but at home -watch out. I simply can't imagine any pup or non-comatose dog needin an asexual anonymous support group. You're not a closet petophile are you!? Is that why you're anonymous?
