Jack, a Pit Bull Terrier mix, faithfully served the Union Army in the Civil War -- while a St. Bernard named General served in the Army of the Confederacy. Much, much later, the Army's celebrated 26th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon went into action during the Korean War, a German Shepherd named Nemo became a hero in Vietnam, and a little Beagle named Penny supported our troops during Desert Storm."
